Pinto Beans

Monday July 28, 2008
Pinto Beans Beans are a staple in my family's house and these ones are slow-cooked with onion and garlic to bring out the warm and hearty flavors. These Pinto Beans are wonderful as a side dish, but can be eaten alone as well. Just top them with some chopped onions and cilantro and you've got yourself a meal.

I don’t know about the garlic, however Baking soda does work. Put about a teaspoon full in the water when you put the bean on to cook. Use more or less depending on the amount of bean you are cooking

I have heard – never tried – that adding a potato to the pot of beans while cooking will absorb the gas-producing ingredient
