I have a suggestion for the refried beans. I learned this from my grandmother and its the way my entire family make their bean. When cooking the dry beans add Two cloves of garlic and a slice or two of bacon to the water in addition to the salt. Otherwise your recipe is good.
PS: I refry always with lard or bacon grease.
