By Chelsie Kenyon, About.com

Agua de Tamarindo is a popular drink in Mexico. It utilizes the tamarind fruit for it's unique tangy and earthy flavor. This recipe used canned tamarind pulp for a quick and easy preparation of this delicious beverage.

Ingredients:

  • 32 oz of drinking water
  • 1/4 cup canned tamarind (tamarindo)
  • 1/2 cup of granulated white sugar

Preparation:

Heat the water to a simmer and add the sugar. Stir occasionally and cook for about 10 minutes, or until the sugar is dissolved. Add in the canned tamarind and simmer for 2-3 minutes more. Remove from heat and let it cool. Pour the Agua de Tamarindo into a pitcher and refrigerate until cold. Serve over ice.
