Habanero Guacamole

By Chelsie Kenyon, About.com

If you love spicy foods, this guacamole made with the super-hot Habanero chile will test your tastebuds. Well, what's left of them anyway. Enjoy this scorching guacamole as an appetizer, or use it as a topping for your favorite tacos and burritos. Recipe makes about 3 cups (depending on the size of your avocados.)

Prep Time: 15 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 4 ripened avocados
  • 1 Habanero chile
  • 1 clove of garlic
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon salt (or salt to taste)

Preparation:

Cut the avocados in half, discard the seeds and using a large spoon, scoop out the flesh into a food processor or a bowl. Using gloves, cut the Habanero chile in half, scrape out the seeds and discard the stem area. Roughly chop each half into quarters and add it to the avocado. Remove the skin from the garlic and add it and the remaining ingredients to the avocado. Blend in a food processor in pulse mode, for 30 seconds to one minute or until nearly smooth. Or you can use a stick blender directly in a bowl to blend the guacamole. Serve immediately.

*OPTIONAL- Use only half of the Habanero chile for a less fiery salsa.
