Mariscos

By Chelsie Kenyon, About.com

Definition: "seafood"

Including shrimp, lobster, fish, crab, mussels, and oysters.

Combinations of seafood are common. Mariscos can be used in soups, burritos and tacos. Another great recipe using mariscos is paella.

Mariscos is widely available in the coastal fishing communities such as Puerto Vallarta and Mazatlan. It is a little harder to come by in the inland areas. Large metropolitan cities have it brought in on a daily basis, but smaller cities and villages have to wait for a trip to the coast to enjoy mariscos.

Pronunciation: mah-REES-cohs
